​​The Foundation (1890 – 1920s) The story of Barnett Family Farms began over a century ago in the heart of O'Brien, Florida. Rooted in the sandy soil and shaded by the sprawling live oaks that still stand today, our family established a commitment to the land that has spanned four generations. What began as a humble endeavor grew into a cornerstone of our family’s identity.​​​The story of Barnett Family Farms isn’t just about agriculture; it’s about a century-long promise kept to the land in O'Brien. Our roots go back to the early settlers of Suwannee County, back when the town was a vital stop on the railroad known as "O’Brine Station." Since the late 1800s, when our ancestors, like T. R. Barnett first walked these fields; our family has weathered every storm, from the great freezes to the changing tides of the Florida timber and agricultural industries.​
Our new name
Transitioning from Barnett Farms to Barnett Family Farms is our way of honoring the "sweat, long nights, and generations of love" that have built this operation. We believe that farming is a calling passed down through bloodlines. By centering "Family" in our name, we are making a public pledge: this land isn’t a corporate asset; it’s a living legacy that we intend to pass down to our children and grandchildren, just as it was passed to us.
